18.2. Can I apply the funds I deposited for insurance toward hosting or my subscription?

Insurance monies can't be used for something else, and are designated for insuring packages only. If you fund the insurance account and decide not to insure packages or if you were to leave our service, the balance of the fund is not refunded.

 

The funds may not be applied to extend an SSB subscription, purchase hosting, or any other reason other than to purchase insurance coverage. As items are insured, we deduct from the balance in the account based on the declared value. This arrangement allows us to offer the best rates to our subscribers, otherwise, we would need to process each transaction through Paypal separately (for each package) and this incurs a minimum per-transaction fee to SSB plus a percentage. Because of Paypal's fees, we wouldn't be able to offer these low rates. We manage the transactions on our servers, and provide an accounting of where the funds went (through History).
