18.6. Can USPS 1st Class Mail International packages be insured?

Yes, you may insure both domestic and international USPS First-Class Mail packages up to a maximum of $999.00 declared value.

For overseas shipments, you must include some kind of tracking, such as the customs number. Some kind of proof of mailing is needed for claims filing purposes. Please either use an electronic mail service (such as eBay's, Stamps.com, Endicia), or obtain a stamped receipt at the Post Office.

Acceptable proofs are:

USPS receipt with address details
PayPal/eBay screen shot of shipping label or printout
Endicia Dazzle or Stamps.com postage log
Printout or screenshot from a shipping system such as ShipStation, ReadyShipper, Auctane, Teapplix, etc.
Customs Declaration Page with date stamp
USPS Click N Ship Online Label Record
Tracking Number (but MUST state Accepted or Arrival)
Certificate of mailing
